F&C and sustainable investment
| F&C is at the forefront of governance and sustainability issues for the investment community. We have an unprecedented track record, dating back to the creation of the UK’s first ethical fund in 1984, which allowed individual investors to incorporate their values into their investments. More recently, we contributed to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, which set the standard for how asset managers and owners should incorporate environmental, social and corporate governance issues into their investment process. F&C’s pioneering programme ensures its clients’ investments are managed in line with this standard. F&C’s Governance and Sustainable Investment team brings together a range of expertise in corporate governance, environmental management and social policy. Our diverse team has strong international expertise, speaking 11 languages and operating out of both the UK and US. F&C believes in the importance of openness and transparency in all its operations, evidenced by the fact that it was the first major asset manager to publish its monthly voting records, as well as an annual Corporate Governance Report. In addition, we also produce a regular reo report that describes how we engage companies to address social, environmental and governance issues. |
