  • Objective and Policy

    A choice of two portfolios

F&C Managed Portfolio Trust has a unique structure where its two portfolios – Growth and Income – work in tandem to enhance each other’s potential. The Income portfolio aims to generate an attractive level of income – paid quarterly – together with a measure of capital growth, while the Growth portfolio targets capital growth exclusively. The fund manager targets a yield on the Income portfolio that is in excess of the FTSE All-Share Index.

    Diverse asset mix

Both portfolios invest in a minimum of 25 investment companies to ensure diversification. The fund manager also seeks to spread risk by taking exposure across a range of geographic regions and market sectors.

    Income and Capital transfer

Any net income generated by the Growth portfolio is transferred to the Income portfolio in exchange for a capital contribution of the same amount in the other direction. This benefits the income prospects for Income shareholders and the capital growth prospects for Growth shareholders.

    Discount Management

The Company aims to maintain the share price discount to NAV at not more than 5%, if necessary, by buying back shares from time to time.

The shares of both portfolios have on average historically traded within a narrow premium/discount range.

Stock market movements may cause the value of investments and the income from them to fall as well as rise and investors may not get back the amount originally invested.

Changes in rates of exchange may have an adverse effect on the value, price or income of investments. If markets fall, gearing can magnify the negative impact on performance.

Past performance is not a guide to future performance.
